Why an Astra 2D Website?
This Website is intended to help those living outside the Astra 2D footprint, by providing news, information and advice on reception.
Astra 2D's footprint is much smaller than those of the other satellites co-positioned at 28.2 degrees east, and therefore, much harder to receive outside the U.K.
The site also focuses on providing information, news, and reception help on Sky Digital and British TV and Radio to the thousands of ex-pats living and working in mainland Europe.
What channels are on the Astra 2D satellite?
BBC TV and radio, all ITV regions, ITV2, ITV3, BBC Interactive services, some of Sky's channels, E4+1 and Irish TV and radio channels are available. You will need a card from the Republic of Ireland to see Irish TV channels! Deutsche Welle TV and TVE International also broadcast on this satellite.
What else will you find at this website?
This site is not just for ex-pats; for those of you in the U.K., there is plenty of information about Sky Digital, Sky+, Sky remote codes, and a complete explanation of Sky Guide.
Also on the Astra 2D Website, information on Digital Terrestrial - Freeview and Topup TV, and UK Media News.
The Astra 2D Website also has its own Forum, where you can discuss related issues, post messeges and ask for advice.
Information about Sky Digital
With over 7 million subscribers, Sky is the UK’s most popular digital satellite entertainment service provider. Using advanced satellite technology, they deliver access to more than 200 channels of programming to homes and businesses that have digital satellite equipment supplied by Sky; this equipment includes a small satellite dish (minidish), a Sky box (a digital satellite receiver) and a remote control.
Order Sky Digital online and save money!
Ordering Sky Digital online is the quickest and most cost effective way to order Sky Digital. It only takes a few minutes and you can even select your own installation date. Installation is currently free when you book online (normally £60) and every subscriber will also receive a free minidish and free Sky box. ALSO, for a limited time, you will also get Sky Sports free for one month! To order sky, just click HERE.

Information on Freeview
This is known as Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT) and is received through your standard TV aerial. Freeview launched in October 2002, as the successor to onDigital/itvDigital. All channels are free to watch, there is no installation or subscription cost and no engineer needs to visit (although an aerial upgrade may be needed if your current aerial isn't suitable). Channel line-up is more limited than Sky TV and cable, however there are a number of subscription channels on Sky Digital, that are free on Freeview!
