Excellent 2D 24/7 except during rain or worse, no 2d on V transponders. Hope to replace with 1.2metre dish eventually and killer lnb.

LNB MTI Blueline AP8 T2

I am successfully receiving horizontal channels of Astra 2D in Bjorklinge, 85 Km north of Stockholm. Perfect quality also in rainy weather, vertical channels can be received from time to time.
Signal strength estimated to approx. 50% (no proper indicator on this receiver).
At first I tried with a “left over” Nokia LNB, without any detail figures I can confirm that the improvement with the MTI was great. Before the change the receiver did not find any vertical channels at all. As the antenna is missing the feedhorn I am using this kind of LNB with built in feedhorn that are meant for modern offset antennas. It would be interesting to try with the “proper” parts. Maybe this will be tested in future.

After spending 4 hours on a ladder I finally put up my 1,2m Channel Master dish near Borlänge
(200 km WNW of Stockholm). The receiver is a Panasonic TU-DSB30. Where I with a 1m dish could get horizontal transponders of 2D unless it rained to much, they are now in clear 24/7. I can now also get the vertical transponders. ITV2 is a little bit weaker than the other vertical transponders, so I have even in good weather, pixilation here. The other vertical transponders are fine. Don't spend a lot of money on a 0.3dB LNB, the Invacom did not get any vertical transponders. The Blueline AP8-T2 gave a better result.

I live in a small town called Emmaboda in the south east of Sweden lat 56.633 long 15.533
I must say I was very surprised when I did a manual search on my Humax Saturday 10 January and received all the BBC channels loud and clear since I only have a 90 cm offset dish and the sky was all cloudy and temperature -2 C.I received the horizontal channels with more than 50% pic-quality and only had some pixelisation on the weakest channels( BBC London etc.) a couple of hours that day. In the evening it was good too. Vertical transponders seem to be dead for me.
Haven't been testing in good weather yet but I will later. I knew the satellite was leaking to other parts of Sweden but to this part of the country I didn't know because I have read about people in the south trying with very big dishes without any luck!
Planning on an update of my system because I have been testing in rain, snow and fog too the last couple of days and I have no "weather reserve "(pixelisation starting under 50% pic-quality).
Don't know if the Invacom 0.3 db is any better than the Interstar but maybe anyone else have compared them but certainly the Interstar is not a bad lnb.

Reception: Astra 2A, 2B (Radio 4 FM now, hurrah) no problem. Astra 2D; enough to allow the receiver to lock on and save channels on 10,773 H (transponder 45) and 10,803 D (transponder 47) when tuned manually. But no picture, sound, or channel information. Also, the Nokia 9802S will not find those channels automatically on "channel
update". Anyone trying to get 2D from Malmö, Lund, Trelleborg, Copenhagen or the vicinity please contact me, perhaps we can probably compare notes to determine required dish sizes. Official footprints suggest "Scandinavia,
forget it", but other reports show the problem is not that bad.

I have at least a 2 m dish (it might be 2,5 m) and I have a refurbished Grundig receiver. I don't know the details of the LNB yet. I have had perfect reception for all my channels and BBC1 and 2. I was in England last week and since I came home on Sunday I have been unable to get a signal for BBC 1 and 2. And before I spend an age on the roof adjusting the dish, I just wanted to be sure that I wasn't wasting my time.

Reception in weather with NO rain all BBC channels on Horizontal (TP 45& 47), signal disappears at around 20.00 C.E.T. Signal strength is found to be around 55-60 % between 17.00-20.00 C.E.T .(I'm not home to check if signal is there daytime, but will do so over this weekend). I haven't been able to recover the signal again, after 20.00.Regardless of what I do with the dish or skew.... As the signal dies off, there is nothing I can do to improve it. Nothing found on Vertical. 10m cable & a switch.

Upgrading to a new Invacom LNB (from an MTI AP82-TW) produced an immediate quality increase of 4-5% on 10832H. Now, H reception rarely dips below 50% quality during the day and usually settles a few percent below 50 during the evening, but this is extremely dependent on weather conditions. V reception is slightly improved also, but still very different to the other side of Öresund (ie in Copenhagen approx. 40 km away) where V reception is stronger than H.
Playing around with the outputs on the LNB revealed that the inner two gave slightly better quality readings than the outer two.
H reception stable 24/7 in all but the worst weather conditions. 10832H is the strongest transponder, giving up to 66% quality readings during the evening peak, which occurs at around 18.10 (CET+1). V reception typically ½ hr in the mornings and 1 hr in the evenings on the stronger transponders, with nothing at any time on 10906V.
All signal quality measurements made on Technomate receiver

Generally good 2D reception, signal strength approx 85%, quality / lock good. Repeated Software Download helped.
Poor weather (heavy rain causes loss). Need to double check / optimize LNB Skew.

I have replaced the lnb with a MTI Blue universal twin 0.6dB, as suggested and what a difference, almost 15% of increased signal strength and up to 20% increase in quality. In practice this has meant almost uninterrupted viewing even after 1900 CET even in less than perfect conditions. SKEW is approx. 10 degrees from due south towards the east. Rain is still a bit of a problem but I found out that by wiping the face of the lnb keeps the picture from breaking up in all but the worst conditions. Just got to find a method of keeping the drops from accumulating!!

We live in Ostergotland (approx 250km south of Stockholm) & use a 1.2m dish for
Astra 2D - no problems! We currently use a Panasonic Sky box but will try out a Nokia 9800S on an 85cm dish to compare.

Equipment is the same as before Panny 30 and a nice new CM 1.8m dish. I have also tried MY SAMSUNG 9500 all with pretty good results. LNB is now a dual output from "Biltema", no idea what it realy is. The Samsung seems to be slightly better than the panasonic. I get all 2d horisontal transponders at between 50 -55% signal and 90% quality, nothing from the vertical transponders. . I have no dropoff at any  time of the day. If the weather is fine then I get signal. Upgrading from 1.2 to 1.8m has made a very big difference.

Hi, as I am just round the corner geographically speaking, Trelleborg Sweden, just thought I would let you know that I get nothing here from 2d with a solid 1m offset Macab dish, Alps LNB and a Panasonic TU DSB 31. Not surprising I guess from what I have learnt recently about the 31. I will keep trying and inform if I get any success.

Reception of four vertical transponder (in order of strength: 10876, 10788, 10818, 10847) for - at most - an hour a day. No signal - at any time - from 10906 or 10936.

I live in central southern Sweden, Vexio, using a Nokia 9802S, 1.2 prime dish, and a o.3 lnb. The reception for BBC is good all day with a signal input 6.0 db S/N until around 1700 CET, then the signal drops away to under 5.0, no picture of course.
